Sunglasses Brands That Are Catching My Eye

They are a staple in every woman’s wardrobe. We wear them daily, and thank goodness for that because the sun down under is BRIGHT. People are often fooled into thinking that sunglasses are a summer accessory, but just like sunscreen, sunglasses should be worn every day throughout the year! Did you know that sunglasses help protect your eyes from ultraviolet rays that cause lasting damage? Not only do they protect your eyes, but we all know that they top off any outfit – whether you’re off to the beach or out to a boozy lunch with the girls.

There’s no such thing as too many sunglasses, and lately I’ve been searching for a few new pairs to add to my collection. We are all too familiar with the sunglasses from the classic, established brands, but there are also a whole bunch of other brands doing their own thing and standing out from the crowd. Let’s get around them and give them the recognition they deserve! Each of these brands are unique in their own right, and I’m hoping that by the time summer rolls around, each will have their own place on my wardrobe shelf.

Pala Eyewear
Pala Eyewear is a brand that is doing a whole lot of good in the world. As well as creating sleek looking sunnies, they provide grants directly to eyecare projects in Africa, with the aim of building sustainable and long-term solutions for visual impairments. All their sunglasses are made in an accredited factory and they off-set their carbon emissions!

Oscar and Frank
Oscar and Frank are an independently owned company with its roots firmly planted in Sydney. Handmade in small, locally-owned factories, they aim to modernise the idea of a simple pair of sunglasses. No two pairs of Oscar and Frank sunglasses are the same, and that is precisely what I love about this brand.

No Peet
No Peet is a self-dubbed true story of glimmering objects and orgasms. I’m thinking space ships, straight out of the future, and sleek AF design. If you want a look that yells UNIQUE, this is the brand for you. And while you’re at it, make sure you check out their story on their website for a good giggle!

Vehla Eyewear
Vehla Eyewear is another Australian brand making waves on the international stage. Born out of a love for accessorising with pieces that make you stand out, Vehla has sunglasses that you can’t mistake. The brand has options that are absolutely timeless and can easily be worn with anything to make it pop.

MODO
Modo has an entire range dedicated to eco-eyewear that are made from 95% recycled material – that’s some serious impact reduction on our precious natural resources! As well as planting a tree for every frame sold, their ‘Buy a Frame – Help a Child See’ pledge has provided a huge amount of eye care to more than 1 million children in need.

Grown Eyewear
Animal lovers, this one is for you! Grown sunglasses are made from bamboo and hardwoods, with only organic, toxic-free materials being used to create each masterpiece. For each pair bought, Grown also provides the ‘gift of life’ to 1 orphaned or injured animal through their partnership with WIRES

Sticks and Sparrow
If you’re looking for sunglasses with an iconic Australian look, this is where it’s at. Sticks and Sparrow are committed to minimising their environmental imprint and using sustainable materials for their products. On top of this, they’re some of the most stylish sunglasses around!
