Bay Of Fires Bush Retreat - Tasmania
Scott (my boyfriend) and I recently spent a long weekend in Tasmania and we had such a good time relaxing, eating, drinking wine, hiking and just enjoying the beautiful outdoors! It was such a beautiful weekend, Tassie is one of my favourite places in Australia and it’s such a shame that people overlook it so often as a great holiday destination!
On our last night of the long weekend, we stayed at a place called Bay Of Fires Bush Retreat which is about 3 hours north of Hobart on the East coast of the island. This place is a relaxed, simple, yet stylist accomodation owned by a lovely couple with the most adorable dog named Bo. As soon as you arrive, you see the petite bell tents scattered around and the first thing you want to do is take a peak inside.
The accomodation is perfect for couples, friends and groups and is comprised of mostly glamping style tents ‘The Bell Tents’, that are equiped with heaters, marshmallows for the fire, towels and the softest of sheets. Not to mention, they have the same mattresses that they have at Saffire Freycinet, the amazing accomodation we had previously been staying at… our backs were very happy. I’d never done the whole glamping thing before, but its safe to say I will definitely be doing it again, its camping minus the hassle. The thought of shared bathrooms usually scares the shit out of me, but these bathrooms were BEAUTIFUL! Concrete and wooden finishings, lots of natural light, it really just felt like our own bathroom!
All guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen to whip up an evening feast, a lazy lunch or a big breakfast before exploring the area. When you book, you have an option to get the guys at Bay Of Fires Bush Retreat to cook your meals for you with dinner being $35pp and breakfast $25pp and us being lazy we said a definite YES to our meals being cooked for us! We had the most amazing meal by the fire in the evening (3 courses) and they catered for vegetarians, allergies and vegans (luckily).
I love seeing small businesses thrive like this one and I couldn’t recommend this place enough to stay if any of you decide to go to Tasmania.
