My Top 5 Skincare Tips - Botox Without Botox
As a girl who is pretty much on the road more often than not and has many late nights with little sleep due to shows and work, it is definitely easy to neglect your skincare routine; I will put my hand up and say I definitely used to be guilty of this. Oh how things change as you get older (and wiser); now I’m all about looking after my skin and giving it the tlc it needs whether I am at home or on the road.
As you guys may or may not know, I do get botox. Not too much, but enough to prevent those frown lines getting any deeper, and i’m all about prevention. Im sure as I get older, Il get more lines and wrinkles when il probably need and want more botox, and il update you guys if and when this happens, but for now, I’m happy getting it in small amounts and every so often.
However botox isn’t the be all and end all, I still stick to a skin routine and use products to help keep my skin feeling and looking young and fresh. Here are my 5 tips for how to keep your skin glowing all year round.
HYDRATE HYDRATE HYDRATE
Over the years, I’ve learnt the importance of drinking enough water and I never realised how much of an impact this would have on my skin. It helps to not only hydrate the skin, but also flush out all of the toxins our body doesn’t need. Alongside a little exercise and a balanced diet, drinking water plays a crucial role in your skins complexion and helps give your skin the glow that everyone wants.
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT
Yes some of us can just be unfortunate with having breakouts, acne or other skin issues due to hormones alone, but 99% of the time, what we eat and put inside our bodies usually shows up on our skin. Food is fuel, food is energy and food is nourishment! Since eating a plant based diet, my skin has never looked better. My skin is glowing with a healthy tone, to the point where I now don’t feel the need to wear much makeup and yes I have to admit, having my brows tattooed and my lashes done, definitely boosts that confidence of wearing no makeup. My skin went from being dull, to being brighter, smoother with an even complexion. Eating a diet filled with fresh plant based whole foods and drinking my daily juice has not only impacted my skin but has also given me that extra energy we all love and need, my body functions better than ever and alongside a little exercise, my body looks and feels stronger than ever! Il touch a bit more on this in future blog posts.
SLEEP
Well for me and probably most of you, sleep heals everything! For someone who loves sleep as much as I do, i’m probably working in the wrong industry. 8 hours + of sleep and I genuinely feel like a whole new woman; my days are productive, my energy levels are higher and my skin feels fresh. If its a night when I have a show, which usually means little sleep, you’ll find me napping for hours pre and post show.
FACIALS
Yes they’re expensive, yes they can be time consuming if you go to a spa or clinic but yes they’re 100% worth it and getting them can make a huge difference for your skin. We invest so much time in our health, so why not invest it in our skin as well.
PRODUCTS
Im all about minimal makeup and good quality natural products, less is more and all that. Like I said above, we invest so much into our health and what we put into our bodies, that we should also care about what we’re putting on our skin day in and day out! I know sometimes when it has been a long day or late night, the last thing we can be bothered to do is take off our face and do our skincare routine, but let’s be honest its an extra 5 minutes. You don’t end up with an orange pillow and your skin will thank you in the morning, TRUST ME. Whether I am at home or travelling and on the go, its minimal makeup (maybe slightly more if I have a big show, and sticking to the power of three in my skincare routine, morning and night; CLEANSE, TONE & MOISTURISE.
These are my top 5 tips and everyones skin is different so what works for me may not always work for you and you may have your own tips, but give these a try and let me know how you go. Yes we all have those off days, id be lying if I say I didn’t have some breakouts every now and then, but personally my skin has never booked better! If you guys have any other good tips that you cant live without, let me know in the comments below!
