10 Music Artists I Have on Repeat Right Now
What do you listen to when you’re at home? It’s a question I get asked ALL THE TIME. People are always surprised by my answer - it’s definitely not dance music, and hardly any DJs; instead I love to tone it back a notch, diversify and kick back while listening to some of my favourite artists. These 10 artists are ones that I’ve had on repeat this year, and still can’t seem to get enough of them!
1. Six60
I saw this band live in December and they knocked my socks off. I’ve been obsessing over them for a while and this concert proved exactly why! If you haven’t given these New Zealand lads a listen, you owe it to yourself to add it to your playlist. You can thank me later!
2. Nerve
Nerve is a Brisbane based rap and hip-hop artist. He is weird and he is epic. Listening to Nerve’s music is an experience in itself, and it tends to shift any preconceptions you have of what hip-hop should be.
3. Running Touch
Running Touch's mission is to "change the way the world thinks of dance music by defying genres and breaking the boundaries of what is considered to be normal.” If you want to know what that means, head over and listen to my favourite Running Touch song, Better Together.
4. Jack Botts
My baby sister got me hooked on Jack Botts – she’s his biggest fan and was lucky enough to see him live last week in Perth. Another awesome Aussie homegrown artist, Jack Botts throws indie vibes, perfect for road trips or long, summer days.
5. Dope Lemon
Dope Lemon is Angus Stone’s passion project. The music is an innovate take on laidback, coastal rock vibes, and I sure as hell am digging it!
6. Samsaruh
Samsaruh is another local legend who took out Triple J’s Unearthed competition and found herself skyrocketed up onto the stage of Falls Fest just 6 months after releasing her single. She deserves it, her talent is very raw and extremely real – definitely one of my favourites right now.
7. James Pepper
James Pepper hails from Sydney and plays music with a characteristic house feel. He’s an artist that just makes me want to get up and move my body to his epic grooves. I can’t wait to see what this year brings for him!
8. Emili Sandé
Taking a break from local Aussie legends, Emili Sandé is a world-renowned artist that has captured my heart. I have been unable to take her off repeat on my Spotify lately. The downside? I can never get Next to Me out of my head!
9. Beautiful Chorus
These ladies describe themselves as ‘high frequency love music’, and that’s exactly what it is! Their music seems to spirit you away and wraps you up in a soulful adventure. This is the music I turn to when I’m in need of a little joy and inspiration.
10. Pete Murray
Pete Murray is definitely not a new addition to my playlist. He is an old favourite, but still one of my top all-time artists. Seeing him broadcast recently at the Bushfire Concert reignited my passion for this incredible musician. He reminds me of teenage holidays where we would belt his music at the top of our lungs for everyone to hear.
