5 Things I’ve Learnt In My Life So Far
TRUST YOUR INTUITION.
Intuition is defined as an ability to understand or know something immediately based on your feelings rather than facts. Your gut feeling is always right. Always. If I would have started listening to my intuition from when I first felt it, I would have saved myself so much pain and mucking around, especially when it came to big decisions in my life … university courses, breakups, health choices etc etc. These days, I listen to my intuition always … and trust it’s judgement in every scenario of my life. The more I listen to my intuition, the stronger it becomes, and now it’s a daily practise, looking inside, and asking the deepest parts of me about what is going on.
LOOKING AFTER YOUR HEALTH AND BODY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN INVEST IN.
This is probably the #1 piece of advice that I give to people when they ask. Without your health, you have nothing. Sure, you can be successful, wealthy, famous, influential, but without your health you will not be able to give your best to any element or aspect of your life. When I started to make my health priority by exercising regularly, eating a plant based diet, and sleeping more (just a few of the aspects of my life that I changed), I noticed a huge shift in every element of my life. My relationship with my body changed, my relationships with others changed, my career took off … literally, everything improved.
TIME IS YOUR MOST PRIZED POSSESSION.
Why spend 9 hours a day working a job you don’t like? Why spend time with people that don’t bring out the best in you? Why not just pick up the phone and tell your loved one you care. I’ve learnt that the most REAL gift we have to share with people is our TIME. Although it may seem like we have plenty of it, it is actually quite limited, and giving people your time, and therefore energy and attention, is the most meaningful gift of all.
YOU BECOME LIKE 7 PEOPLE YOU SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME WITH, CHOOSE THEM WISELY.
In the last few years of my life I have made it a priority to clear out my friend circles, and only spend time with people that I believe love me unconditionally, people that I look up to, and people that bring out the best in me. I’m more honest than ever with my friends, and treat them exactly as I would like to be treated. Friendship and relationships are nourishment for the soul.
THE IMPORTANCE OF CREATING A NETWORK OR RESOURCE POOL OF PEOPLE / TOOLS TO HELP YOU IN TIMES OF NEED.
Life can be super stressful and exhausting these days. We work long hours, living expenses are high, and we can be overwhelmed with information and noise coming at us from every direction. Over the past few years I have developed a ‘tool kit’ if you will, of people, places, techniques and practises that get me through when times are tough. For example, my Reiki Healer Katrina is someone that I go and see every month or two to ground my energy and clear out anything I don’t need.
