Cruelty Free Christmas Food Ideas

When you think of Christmas lunch, you typically imagine turkey breast, ham on the bone, fruit mince pies, gravy and seafood. While none of that is traditionally vegan, it’s becoming a whole lot easier to turn your Christmas feast into a cruelty free affair. Need to know where to start? You’ve come to the right place! I’m here to help you create a scrumptious Christmas feast.

Christmas Roast
Believe it or not, Coles AND Woolworths have released their own Christmas roasts. My favourite vegetarian butcher, Suzy Spoons, also makes delicious homemade Christmas roasts. Try her sausages too while you’re at it – you won’t regret it!

Plant-Based Gravy
It wouldn’t be Christmas without some thick oozing gravy. Check out this flavoursome recipe by Jamie Oliver or this Easy Vegan Gravy from Minimalist Baker

Stuffing
Vegan stuffing is best made at home and with love. I love this recipe from the Edgy Veg, it’s chocked full of herbs. Another delicious stuffing recipe is this one – it’s a great one for you gym junkies wanting to fit your macros and fulfil your protein needs!

Rosemary Roasted Root Veg
This has been a staple in our house at Christmas for years. I salivate at the thought of crispy potatoes with sprigs of rosemary - hurry up December 25! A good recipe for Roasted Veg comes from our old favourite, Jamie Oliver – bless you for your enormous range of vegan Christmas recipes!

Gingerbread men
If you’ve got kids around, gingerbread men are such a good way to get them involved in the kitchen – dressing my ginger-people was a highlight of my childhood, and if I’m perfectly honest, it’s something I still love to do now. Check out this recipe by Loving it VeganIt’s an interesting one and uses molasses – not an ingredient I’d normally reach for, but in this recipe it comes out tasting great. Not to mention that one serving of molasses provides 35% of both your daily iron and calcium needs!

Christmas Pudding
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a rich and fruity Christmas pudding. 2 years ago my sister made this recipe created by my awesome friends, The Happy Pear. Needless to say, it was D-I-V-I-N-E. Finding recipes like these that prove just how delicious and incredible vegan food can be fills me with so much happiness!
