5 Podcasts to Kickstart Your Year

There are thousands of podcasts out there (kudos, technology) and whilst that can be an incredible resource, it can also be insanely overwhelming. I’ve narrowed it down to 5 episodes you should dedicate some time to – they’re all different, yet all worth a listen. So here it is – 5 podcasts to kickstart your new year!

1. Expanded Podcast with Lacy Phillips #74 – Manifestation 101
It’s the New Year, and most of us have spent some time reflecting on the year that was and getting clear on what we want out of 2020. If you’re really looking to knuckle down and kick butt this year, it’s a great idea to do some work on manifestation. Lacy Phillips is the manifesting QUEEN. In this episode she goes back to basics on what manifestation is, how to develop this method, and where to begin.

2. Joe Rogan Experience #1393 – The Game Changers Debate
On a previous episode, Chris Kresser, a health coach and paleo advocate, had attempted to ‘debunk’ the science behind the recent documentary, Gamechangers. Realising that the argument was reasonably one sided, Joe Rogan then invited James Wilks, a former MMA champion, Special Forces trainer and producer of the documentary to come on board and set the record straight. What follows is a stimulating four-hour debate between the two – strap yourself in, it’s a wild ride!

3. Caliphate – the entire series

The Caliphate podcast follows Rukmini Callimachi, a journalist for The New York Times, on her mission to understand ISIS. It’s a mind-opening, addictive podcast, and is a great way to understand a little more of what is going on in the war on terror. It’s a war that cost the US billions of dollars and has been fought for over 20 years. Rukmini takes the reader along as she tried to find the answer to her question – who are we really fighting?

4. The Happiness Lab #4 – Mistakenly Seeking Solitude
When it comes to happiness, you may think that a better car, more money or a new house will make you happy. In fact, you couldn’t be further from the truth. In this podcast, Yale professor Dr Laurie Santos walks you through the latest research on happiness and shares some amazing stories that will change the way you think about what really makes you happy.

5. Plant Proof #80 - Your Gut Health Questions with Dr Will Bulsiewicz
Gut health is a topic very close to my own heart. This is an episode that everyone needs to listen to. In truth, it was hard to choose just one Plant Proof episode, but this one eventually came up as the winner. It’s a Q&A with Dr Will Bulsiewicz who breaks down complicated science into easy to understand titbits of information.
