5 Honeymoon Destinations I’m Dreaming Of

It’s less than one month until our wedding and there’s still a rather large matter that we haven’t locked in – our honeymoon! We’ve been tossing round ideas and doing a whole heap of research but, with the state of the world as it stands, we aren’t 100% sold on any particular place.

Here are 5 destinations that all sound pretty damn amazing!

Hawaii

Hawaii seems like a great honeymoon destination. I’ve been there before but haven’t strayed too far from the main track. I would be really excited to explore some new islands and see what else Hawaii has to offer. And let’s face it, it’s hard to go wrong with Hawaii – the beaches, the water, the aloha spirit. I am really drawn to Maui; it has some of the whitest sand beaches in the world, upscale dining, spectacular waterfalls and incredible landscapes.

Christmas Island

I’ve had my eye on a beautiful sustainable resort on Christmas Island for a while now. Swell Lodge features floor-to-ceiling glass panels framing knockout views of the Indian Ocean. It’s secluded luxury, nestled in the Christmas Island National Park. Visits to Swell Lodge are all inclusive – private chef, guided tours, 4wd access, you name it! Sustainable tourism is a particular appeal for Christmas Island, with its pristine environment home to many species of birds, as well as providing phenomenal diving with coral reefs and drop-off cliffs.

Great Barrier Reef

With borders and the world in such confusion, the idea of a honeymoon close to home is definitely appealing. The Great Barrier Reef is beautiful for sure, and there are some great resorts that would be perfect for a honeymoon. Couple that with a few days further south, perhaps exploring Fraser Island, and I think you’d have a great blend of adventure and relaxation, just a stone’s throw from our doorstep!

Japan

Because if it’s not bikini weather, we may as well go skiing, right? Both Scott and I love the snow; we’ve spent quite a bit of time over the years on the slopes in different places. Somewhere like Niseko would be great fun; they also have a whole host of amazing vegan eats - check out my article on Niseko’s Top Vegan Eats here. Japan has great food, great snow and great onsens – sounds like a pretty amazing honeymoon!

Antarctica

Okay I know it sounds a little crazy, but a trip to Antarctica could be absolutely epic. Think King Penguins, Orcas and Seals. I can guarantee you now that this one won’t be our chosen honeymoon destination, but it’s definitely going on the bucket list!
