Must-Have Essential Oils for Camping

I spent this past weekend away camping in the Blue Mountains with my partner and a group of our friends. It was incredible – we did some exploring, a lot of eating and 4wding, then warmed up each evening with a glass of red in front of the fire. It was a perfect weekend and we did not go without. Of course, I had my trusty oils by my side at all times, and had a lot of fun sharing them with my friends. Oils are not only an essential part of my daily routine; they are a vital member of my first aid kit. I always reach for natural options first, and they do a damn good job! So which oils made the cut and made it into my camping bag?

Lavender
Lavender is the Stanley knife of essential oils. It’s definitely the most versatile – it’s great for use on burns from campfire mishaps, stings from bugs and also helps ease sunburns. Of course, you can also use it before you go to bed to help you get a good night’s sleep.

Purification
Purification oil is one of my favourite Young Living blends. It’s also a staple for outdoor activities. Purification is an incredibly effective insect repellent but also works to soothe any stings you may have picked up. Another top tip is to use Purification to get rid of any bad odours – whether it’s from damp running shoes or the strong stench of fire in your pillow!

Thieves
Thieves is Young Living’s signature blend and you’ll rarely find me without it. I use this every single day to support my immunity so it is definitely coming along on any camping trips I take. Thieves is also an incredible antibacterial agent so you can clean any gunky surfaces you come across.

Tea Tree
Tea Tree is a staple for any first aid kit. It soothes cuts and scrapes, including any nasty blisters from hiking or other outdoor activity, helping kill germs and prevent infection. It can also be handy to help remove ticks and to soothe any sunburns.

Digize
As someone who suffered for years from irritable bowel issues, I know the worst place to be stuck with a bad belly is out in the bush without a toilet. Digize works perfectly to soothe an upset stomach, especially one that results from too many vegan s'mores!
