14 DIY Homemade Christmas Gifts

Christmas is fast approaching and it’s time to start pulling together meaningful gifts for your family and friends. If you haven’t already, check out my Conscious Christmas Gift Guide – it’s got a whole bunch of gift ideas that are better for your health, and for our planet.

Whether you’re a sentimental person, feeling crafty or perhaps on a budget, DIY gifts can be an excellent route to take. What’s so good about DIY gifts? For starters, homemade presents are made with love so they are a whole lot more meaningful. Those close to you will know you had to spend time on them, and thoughtfulness is always appreciated. To top it off, DIY gifts also are much more sustainable and have less resource consumption attached to them. It’s a win win!

  • Bath Salts

Bath salts are the ultimate gift of love. Baths are soothing, relax your muscles, and are a great way to destress. Better yet, they’re a super quick and easy gift to make. Check out this How To for an epic Bath Salt recipe featuring my favourite natural remedy, Essential Oils

  • Christmas Ornaments

Whilst my to do list seems to be ever-growing, something right near the top this month is to create these stunning Christmas Tree Decorations. They’re a sustainable, thoughtful gift that you can be sure will be used every year without fail.

  • Succulent Garden

Follow these easy steps and create a beautiful succulent garden for a lucky someone this Christmas. Succulents are easy to maintain and create a great aesthetic to brighten up your space. Plus, indoor plants are a great way to improve the air quality of your home!

  • Homemade Toothpaste

Don’t laugh – contrary to what you’re thinking, this is actually a great gift idea. Everyone uses toothpaste daily, but a majority of the toothpaste we purchase from the store is full of chemicals and toxins that we unknowingly ingest. Show some love with this toxin free recipe – package it up in a little tin and you’re ready to roll.

  • Rich & Creamy Fudge

Never was a gift so celebrated as this Rich & Creamy Fudge. It takes only 30 minutes to make and melts like magic in your mouth. Pile it into a mason jar, tie a bow around it and there you have it – a delectable and cruelty free Christmas gift!

  • Tie Rack

Let’s face it – we have all gifted our Dads with at least one tie over the past few years. It’s a staple that you know he will love and use (just like those socks and undies he seems to receive each Christmas without fail). This year, try changing it up by making this DIY Tie Rack and giving him a funky space to store all those presents.

  • Herb Garden

Another useful, practical and downright delicious present. I would love to receive this gift (hint hint Scott). Check out this article: How to start a Herb Garden  and create your own masterpiece.

  • DIY Bookmarks

Bookmarks are the perfect gift for those friends and family who love to get stuck into a good novel. They’re quick and easy to make, and look quite beautiful. If you’re stuck for ideas, check out this article for inspiration.

  • Personalised Hamper

Personalised hampers are super easy to make and look great too! All you need to do is grab a bunch of items you know the recipient will love (I’d recommend wine, cookies, jam, fruit, chocolate etc.) and bundle them up in a nice basket.

  • Chocolate bark

This Vegan Chocolate Bark recipe tastes incredible and looks sexy too! Chocolate bark is such a Christmassy treat to have. This is a great gift to make in bulk so there is plenty to go round.

  • Peppermint Jar Candles

These DIY Peppermint Mason Jar Candles only require a few ingredients. If peppermint isn’t your scent, you can easily swap it out for any other essential oil flavour.

  • Scented Drawer Sachets

Scented drawer sachets remind me of home and my childhood. These scented sachets are surprisingly simple to make and they leave your clothes drawers smelling heavenly!

This hanging grill tool rack is a great gift for Dads or for those who love to spend time cooking the barbie on the verandah. It’s a great addition to any outdoor area – I guarantee you’ll be proud of your masterpiece too!

  • Cinnamon Spice Sugar Body Scrub

We all need more chemical free, natural beauty products in our lives! This is such a thoughtful and practical gift. I love this recipe – all the ingredients will already be found in your kitchen cupboard!
